A rare opportunity has become available at Blenheim House Care Home. We are looking for an experienced Kitchen Manager to join our amazing team to help deliver a fresh approach to care home cuisine. You will be responsible for preparation of fresh, nutritionally balanced menus as well as leading a small team of kitchen and front of house staff.  Leading from the front you will be the face of the kitchen, liaising with residents and families and working with hosts/hostesses to deliver five-star food and service.

You will be a strong cook and have good management skills be able to work with the Senior Team to develop the offerings and standards.  You will be able to maintain a high standard of hygiene and have a flexible approach.  You will also be required to:

  • Supervise and develop staff to maximize their potential.

  • Have full understanding of H.A.C.C.P, to ensure all staff adhere to H.A.C.C.P and all documentation is completed.

  • Complete monthly audits for the kitchen, reporting any finding to the Home Manager

  • Prepare menus taking into account the content, balance, colour and nutritional values, in line with the agreed budget.

  • Consult with residents on a regular basis to ensure that their needs and choices are being met.

  • Prepare special diets for residents as directed by the nursing staff.

  • Maintain agreed cleaning and deep cleaning schedules for the kitchen.

  • Implement rotas and ensure staff take their allocated annual leave.

  • Assist in the preparation of function menus and costing.

  • Co-operate with requests from the Home Manager and residents wherever possible.

  • Attend resident/relative meetings whenever possible.

  • Carry out staff supervision adhering to the home’s Policies and Procedures.

  • Complete all staff personal development reviews.

  • Oversee hosts/hostesses making sure all catering areas are being maintained to company standards.

  • Oversee hosts/hostesses, working with them to deliver high service standards.
     

Skills & Experience

  • Significant and relevant high cover kitchen experience.

  • Day to day management of a kitchen team, front of house including staff meetings

  • Competency in nutritionally balanced menu planning

  • Ability to cater for specific dietary needs

  • Efficient ordering and record keeping

  • Stock control

  • Working within a budget

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong organisational and planning skills

  • Self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic

  • Works collaboratively with others sharing ideas and information at all times

  • Has the ability to delegate effectively

  • Has the ability to raise standards through innovation and new ideas

Will take responsibility for issues and resolve them.
