Experience, Skills and Qualifications Required:

Must hold a full clean driving licence and be able to drive a mini bus. Genuine interest in working within a caring environment. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Team Player. Satisfactory police check and check against the DBS Adult first list (where applicable). A basic understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act and Infection Control.

Duties will include:

Maintaining the minibus including daily checks, cleanliness and garage appointments. Maintaining all relevant minibus paperwork and reporting any problems to the maintenance manager. Ensure the safety and security of all those who travel on the minibus including Residents, staff and visitors. Support the Events Manager in planning trips and ensuring suitability of trip venuesSupport Resident’s and staff during the trip including wheelchair assistance and other reasonable duties. Provide individual trips for Residents when group trips are not booked. When not out on a trip the Bus Driver will be expected to join the activities team and assist with group actives, events and one to one sessions.

Kitchen Manager

A rare opportunity has become available at Blenheim House Care Home. We are looking for an experienced Kitchen Manager to join our amazing team to help deliver a fresh approach to care home cuisine. You will be responsible for preparation of fresh, nutritionally balanced menus as well as leading a small team of kitchen and front of house staff.  Leading from the front you will be the face of the kitchen, liaising with residents and families and working with hosts/hostesses to deliver five-star food and service.

You will be a strong cook and have good management skills be able to work with the Senior Team to develop the offerings and standards.  You will be able to maintain a high standard of hygiene and have a flexible approach.  You will also be required to:

  • Supervise and develop staff to maximize their potential.

  • Have full understanding of H.A.C.C.P, to ensure all staff adhere to H.A.C.C.P and all documentation is completed.

  • Complete monthly audits for the kitchen, reporting any finding to the Home Manager

  • Prepare menus taking into account the content, balance, colour and nutritional values, in line with the agreed budget.

  • Consult with residents on a regular basis to ensure that their needs and choices are being met.

  • Prepare special diets for residents as directed by the nursing staff.

  • Maintain agreed cleaning and deep cleaning schedules for the kitchen.

  • Implement rotas and ensure staff take their allocated annual leave.

  • Assist in the preparation of function menus and costing.

  • Co-operate with requests from the Home Manager and residents wherever possible.

  • Attend resident/relative meetings whenever possible.

  • Carry out staff supervision adhering to the home’s Policies and Procedures.

  • Complete all staff personal development reviews.

  • Oversee hosts/hostesses making sure all catering areas are being maintained to company standards.

  • Oversee hosts/hostesses, working with them to deliver high service standards.
     

Skills & Experience

  • Significant and relevant high cover kitchen experience.

  • Day to day management of a kitchen team, front of house including staff meetings

  • Competency in nutritionally balanced menu planning

  • Ability to cater for specific dietary needs

  • Efficient ordering and record keeping

  • Stock control

  • Working within a budget

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong organisational and planning skills
