Animal Magic at Blenheim House!

With a plethora of activities delivered by a dedicated, and award winning Activities Team, we are always keen to incorporate animals into our residents lives as and when they wish.

Research suggests that pet owners require fewer GP visits and are less prone to heart disease- so lets talk to our CRM , Chris, to learn more about how we encourage furry friends to meet our residents!

“Pets are far more that just furry companions, each come with their own quirky personalities and characteristics which can bring such vibrancy to our home. On an emotional level, owning a pet can reduce depression, stress and anxiety, so we try to create wonderful moments for our residents using animals safely and thoughtfully.

Our care home therapy dog is now nearly 3 years old and was named after Peter Bailey, a renowned artist and former resident here at our home. Bailey, and her best friend Bowie, regularly visit all three of our communities and provides friendship and fun to those who may miss their own pets, having transitioned into residential care. It’s a fantastic way to provide that extra magic moment to our resident’s, and staff’s lives! “

Bailey is not the only animal that comes into Blenheim House; our activities team regularly welcomes wildlife experiences to keep residents entertained- most recently a fascinating birds of prey session enthralled us all!

“We look forward to visitors safely visiting our home to talk about local wildlife and the local area, this will help our residents feel connected with the community and to feel part of their locality again. In the new year we will have visits from zoo outreach teams, which will feature all sorts of creatures, from reptiles, insects and more- animal visitors create a lovely buzz around the home and we all love to share those stories of touching a snake or being brave enough to hold a tarantula!

We ensure our animal therapy sessions are safe and abide by Government guidelines, to learn more about how we protect our residents and staff please visit our Keeping Safe, Our Promise webpage.
