Hurray! Our home won a National Activities Award this month!
Our whole home approach means we all love to be involved in Moving and Grooving activities!
The NAPA Year of Moving and Grooving 2021 is a campaign to support care homes to prioritise physical activity, with the aim of improving physical, psychological and social well-being.
And Blenheim House are ecstatic to announce that we have won the award!
Here at Blenheim House, we run up to 8 fitness based activities each week, and we are over the moon to have received this award! From Latino Fitness, Love to Move, chair based exercise and Revitalyz we have sessions that everyone can enjoy and develop their dexterity in a fun and friendly way. Our weekly gardening club and Noticing Nature projects mean residents get lots of fresh air whilst sharing their thoughts and memories of nature together.

The awards ceremony was hosted by the National Activities Providers Association and was such fun! We started the day also celebrating the Big Draw, so alongside our singing and dancing sessions we also had Autumn themed craft sessions before the awards ceremony began, a busy day indeed!

We caught up with Chris after the award was presented to ask him about why he thought Blenheim House had beat of thousands of other entries from other homes across the UK;
” Our activities schedule is choc full of wonderfully enriching sessions- both in a group and 1:1 setting, and we are overjoyed that the increase in our provision of movement based sessions over the last year has been recognised on a national level. Activities are defined as those activities that increase your heart rate and cause you to breathe more deeply and can include walking, gardening , music or dancing and we cover these criteria in a fun and engaging way, it’s fantastic to see teams from all over our home joining in- we do love to Move and Groove!
